I liked this cake, but the Downey's Irish Whiskey Cake is betterDec 21, 2009

Long story short, the Downey's Original Amaretto cake is fresh and tasty, but I thought that their Irish Whiskey Cake was better. I think that you'll enjoy this and I do recommend it, but I wouldn't do cartwheels over it either.
I would have preferred a bit stronger Amaretto flavor, but it's definitely there. Just not as strong and pronounced as I would prefer. Be sure to microwave each piece for a short time to melt the sugars a bit and unlock the aroma. It's tasty for sure, but again, if you like whiskey then go with their Irish Whiskey Cake instead.

I have bought these over the years. I usually paid this price for a 2 lb cake at Tuesday Morning but have not shopped there for awhile. I was a little surprised at first at the small size as I had never purchased the 1 lb cake before. However, it was just as yummy as ever and went very quickly!
