Long on style but short time to light!Mar 29, 2007

I purchased these candles because I like things that are not "run-of-the-mill". Candles are candles and I was pretty bored with the standard ones that I had been buying for many years. I remember seeing a "Bernie Mac Show" episode where they were celebrating his birthday. On his cake were long, elegant birthday candles that I thought looked so nice. I wanted to create the same affect.
I saw these candles on Amazon and figured they would be perfect. While they did achieve the look I was going for, the "performance" (if you will) was definitely lacking. You should know, the candles are long but width wise they are extremely skinny. Lighting them was a chore, and because of the flimsyness the candles started to melt rather quickly (down onto the cake) They also bend/break rather easily. If you are using one or two I suppose it would be fine but on this particular occasion we needed to light 18 candles. It was quite a feat.
Overall, stylewise it's good but it's function was not what I had anticipated. They are too much trouble and in my experience not worth it. I would not purchase these Dec-A-Cake Party Candles again. I'd maybe hedge the rating to "2½", but I could not bring myself to rate it a "3"
