The Ne Plus Ultra of Brownies!Oct 13, 2007
By Lynn Waters These are the best brownies I've ever made or eaten, in a long life as devoted chocophile! I am a baking snob, and normally never use cake mixes of any kind. I did use popular brownie mixes during many years as PTA volunteer, Room-mother for three, Cub Scout leader, and Swim Team mom; but even though I added extra vanilla, chocolate chips, and espresso powder, the chocolate flavor was always bland and disappointing, or the brownies were like little squares of unexciting chocolate cake. Later, I spent years searching cookbooks and experimenting with new recipes each time I baked brownies, looking for the best possible, fudgey, deeply chocolate, truly satisfying homemade brownie recipe. Then I discovered Dassant Belgian Truffle Brownie Mix, and I was an instant convert! This mix is as good as any homemade from scratch recipe, and better than most. These brownies are deep, dark, luscious, decadent. The only problem is that everyone will want the recipe, so you'll have to admit you used a mix ;-) Tip: try spreading a thin layer (about 1/4 cup) of seedless red raspberry jam between two layers of batter before baking. Sheer heaven!

You Can Stop Looking NowJan 30, 2011
By ClickHere Your search is officially over. You just found the Holy Grail of all brownies, even grandma's home-made ones. Yep, these are outstanding. Not to mention how easy they are to make, no electric mixer needed either.
The best way to make them is this >> Go get that certain 'Brownie Pan' that makes all your brownies have edges. You know which one I mean. Not the cheap one that just pre-slices them, but the pan that is EXPENSIVE and HEAVY. Mix up TWO boxes of this mix, per instructions. The batter will be very heavy, it may be easier just spooning the batter in the pan, and leveling it out once all the batter is in there. When you go to bake them >> 28 minutes at 350 degrees. Do not shorten the baking time as the instructions for 'that pan' will tell you you may need to do.
Let them cool completely, just like the instructions say, before eating. Two hours minimum. I'm going to order more now :)

A Truly Better MixOct 08, 2010

Don't get me wrong, other brownie mixes are fine; you know, the normal brownies that people can add stuff to and they taste great. This mix however is truly a cut above. I'm not clear what makes it so, but I promise you my roofing crew of 60 guys and office staff of 35 think I have some amazing secret because these are just that much more exceptional than the typical vamped up brownie. The flavor is richer, the texture soft, dense, moist yet not too fudgy. Not cake, not fudge, but a clear top notch brownie. And it's a mix. I love doing my own cooking, but whatever these ingredients - which seem typical yet obviously aren't - are, they make it something I just haven't been able to compare to. Now I think, with the price and ease of the mix, why would I? - Leo's wife, Cat

Dassant Belgian Truffle Brownie MixMar 07, 2008
By Mrs. R.S. Once I discovered Dassant I gave up all other brownie recipes. We use homemade cream cheese frosting. My family won't eat any other brownie.
