Seems to work, mixes pretty well, tastes ok.Oct 12, 2009
By Omar Siddique I was looking to gain more muscle from my workouts, and picked this based on having tried the DESIGNER WHEY Protein 2GO Pak, Pomegranate Fruit, 10 Count .53 Oz Packets (Pack of 2). This also uses Whey protein (a must), and comes in reasonably mid-sized containers. Tasting reasonable without too many fake ingredients was also a requirement.
(seriously though, why do most protein mixes come in gigantic jugs the size of my head, or overpriced mini portions?)
This protein powder seems to work for me. I'd had trouble adding lean mass despite working out regularly, since getting enough protein from my diet usually meant getting too many calories. So, I stepped up my strength building, having a serving of this mix right after every workout and I've noticed a difference in how much muscle I've added since.
It mixes/dissolves reasonably well in a tall glass with a spoon (more so with room temperature water than with chilled). The directions recommend using a blender, but I've never bothered. There's a residue left in the glass but nearly all of it dissolves typically. The recommended serving mixed with 12oz of water tastes bland like skim milk. Far from repulsive, but not particularly yummy. I'd call the taste acceptable.
The sweetener used is oligofructose which seems to be more natural/healthful than the Aspartame-like sweeteners used in other products.
Recommended for building lean mass in combination with strength training. After going through 3 canisters, I'm going to keep using it. Recommended.

Creamy, delicious--my favorite whey powderAug 07, 2011
By Joanna Daneman I've been through a number of brands of whey powder. I need to eat about 15 grams of protein per meal and have 3 snacks a day, per my physician and also recommended by my gym trainer. Whey powder provides a good source of easy-to-drink quality protein, easy to prepare, low fat and healthy. But there are so many on the market, how do you choose one to suit your needs?
My requirements are (1) no fructose or Splenda or Nutrasweet, (2) tastes good (not too sweet, not chalky) and (3) should dissolve easily and be drinkable in water or juice.
After pawing through canister after canister on the shelves of vitamin stores, pharmacy and grocery store, I found this was the only brand that met my requirements. It is sweetened with Stevia, which recently had been approved by the FDA as a sweetener even though it was used for years in Japan while THEY banned even saccharine as potentially harmful. Stevia is an extract of a leaf that makes a sweet liquid about 50 times sweeter than sugar. Stevia has little effect on blood sugar, and may even enhance glucose tolerance.
I took home a canister, mixed it up in a mug of water using my Magic Bullet mixer, which has a mug-mixing container that is so useful for mixing up a quick drink. I found the taste was sweeter than I liked (but I don't like very sweet things) but quite tolerable compared to others I had tried in past. I mixed some up with orange juice. Wow. That was even sweeter (predictably) but the vanilla flavor with orange was very tasty. I found that mixing part water, part crushed ice, and part orange juice was ideal for me. In about a half a minute, I have a frothy shake that goes down pretty easily. So I like a mix of calcium-enriched orange juice, crushed ice and a scoop of the vanilla powder. Yum!
Even the water alone was excellent as was water-crushed ice. I have not thrown in berries (blueberries, raspberries), half a banana or fresh peach but I am going to try some of those next.
All in all, I can heartily recommend this supplement if you need something to add a protein meal to your diet.

Best natural tasting whey out thereNov 22, 2009
By Senor Zoidbergo I tried the smaller 2 lb little brother, and loved the taste and fast dissolving action. It's perfect, not too sweet, yet packed with protein. While it might seem a bit pricey, just think of how many dollars you save from not consuming all those extra meals!
I use 1 to 1.5 scoops, and make a delicious shake. Add 2 ripened bananas, some semi-frozen strawberries (using frozen strawberries gives a frozen yogurt consistency), peaches, pineapples, and papaya. I recommend using soy milk, with a touch of regular milk to your fruit shake. Regular milk is too thin and liquid-y.
Additionally, adding fruits is a MUST! I've tried the protein dissolved only in water and/or milk, and it doesn't taste nearly as good. In fact, it tastes pretty bad.
Helps me recover faster from workouts, and keeps me full most of the day. For the rest of my meals, I eat smaller portions, mainly fresh fruits, vegetables, and a small bit of fish or chicken breast.

Tastes Better Than The Others!Jun 07, 2009
By soulfull I've tried dozens of vanilla flavored protein powders over the years and they all seem to have a chalk-like taste. Not this one. It's smooth and creamy and full of vitamins and minerals. I use it with soy milk and some blueberries, sometimes banana and it's wonderful. This size is a bargain too!

Great BuyMay 06, 2009

I have been using Designer Whey Protein for about 6 years. I use it as a meal supplement. Designer is one of the better protein powders available. It's easy to use and has a good taste. Also, it mixes well in smoothies and other dishes. I have tried other brands but I always come back to Designer. It's a good buy for taste and value.
