Excellent water, but method of packing box leaves me cool.Jun 03, 2009
By Samantha L. Maynard
"Crazy Diamond"
First let me say that I am sort of a water snob. My preferred brands have always been Voss, Fiji and Liquid Salvation. Because they are all very expensive, I've been looking for a lower-cost replacement.
I have definitely found it. Cool Blue comes in a tall, square-ish 1.5 liter bottle. My biggest test for water is how it tastes at room temperature. I just removed a bottle from the box (more on the packaging later) and took a big swig.
Cool Blue has a soft-mouth feel, very similar to Fiji. The taste is clean, but I think I can smell a little bit of the plastic which imparts a slight taste to the water. I plan to use this in refillable aluminum bottles anyhow, so I don't think it will be a problem when chilled. I looked up the bottling source online (New Zealand Quality Waters) and was pleased to see it lists both approvals, kosher and FDA listings, plus water quality tests.
Clearly this is the best value for your money if you are a Prime customer, but beware the packaging. Yes, this does come in "original" packaging. For me, that meant that I received one box from the US distributor, Pacific Resources of Summerland, Calif., which already had postal marks and labels on it, and the box did not reflect the contents. Furthermore, the bottles were simply packed loose inside. No shrinkwrap, cardboard holders, etc, to keep it in place. The second box was inside a larger Amazon box. Luckily, nothing appears broken, but if the distributor is reading this, please package your water more securely!
Overall, in just the few short minutes I have had to taste this water, I feel that I have definitely found a much less expensive but comparable in taste product relative to Liquid Salvation or Fiji.
Really good.Nov 18, 2010
By Maria Lehner This water is a good quality and taste, especially for the price versus other brands like Volvic. The big bottle size is nice.
Excellent Tasting Spring Water, Best Taste for the Price.Aug 14, 2010
By Benjamin This water is the best bang for the buck because its got a superior excellent taste with a decent price (not that I'm saying its inexpensive though). I don't buy this very often, because a water filter attached to the tap is less expensive and is the best way to go.
It is disconcerting to find out that many of the purified waters and some spring waters are coming from places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York areas. The only ones that are probably better are those from the mountain springs or more rural areas.
