Tea drinking has been a healthful delight for centuries. Taking a moment to prepare a cup of tea is a simple ritual that can enhance mental clarity, create a state of serenity, and promote relaxation. Organic Green Tea with Toasted Brown Rice is a taste of Japan's ancient agricultural traditions. We blend fire- toasted brown rice, which gives this tea its mild, toasty aroma and flavor, with spring- harvested green tea. The fresh and delicately balanced cup is a simple, healthy pleasure from the staples that created a culture. In order to bring you the purest tea product in the world, packaged for convenience with materials causing the least impact on our environment, we chose to make tea bags without glue or heat- sealed polyfilaments. This box holds our latest tea bag innovation: replacing the staples with the elegant simplicity of knotted string. Smooth and drinkable but not outstandingNov 17, 2008
By kalyson I am glad it is organic, and it looks as though they have put a lot into making their packaging materials healthy and earth-friendly.
The flavor is mild and the amount of caffeine is very low. This is probably because there is very little green tea in this mixture. The flavor mostly comes from the toasted brown rice. This is a nice enough flavor, but it is not really like a more traditional genmaicha which has the flavors of both the toasted rice plus the green tea.
I prefer either the Yamamotoyama or the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf company versions of genmaicha for commercially available sources. The best tea would come from specialty importers, but that would be quite a bit more expensive.

A Little WeakMay 25, 2009
By good2Bme I have been looking for a good organic genmaicha in a tea bag style. This is not bad, but the flavor is weak, or maybe the portion per bag is too small, and I have to use two bags to get the flavor I get from my favorite (non-organic) genmaicha. And even then, the flavor is just okay. So, I will use what I have but continue to search for that perfect organic genmaicha.

My favorite green tea (and, it's organic!)Mar 25, 2007
By V. Z. Daly Genmaicha (green tea with toasted rice) has become my favorite kind of green tea. It tastes a bit like popcorn -- toasty. I also like the Choice brand, which is organic. I drink this tea every afternoon as a pick-me-up. All in all, I recommend it!

A little dissapointingSep 30, 2011

I've been trying out different Genmaicha teas recently and this one, has a pleasant, strong toasted rice aroma, but the there isn't as much toasted rice taste as others I have tried.

Very aromaticSep 26, 2010
By globalnomad I have been avoiding tea bags and go for loose leaf tea whenever possible because the taste tends to be better. Most tea in tea bags does not even taste like tea and most people do not even know that until they have tasted real tea! After reading some good reviews on this I was willing to give it a try and I am glad I did. This is the most aromatic tea I've had in a tea bag. I actually love genmaicha and it compares pretty well to some of the loose leaf varieties I have. I also like the wide range of flavors they offer and the staple-less bag is a nice touch. Only drawback is the price though.
