5So easy to use! Just make sure to follow directions!Jun 17, 2009
By Shopper
This product is all advantages, and only one minor flaw (which I list at the end).

Advantages:
1) The price I paid on Amazon is fabulous compared to what my grocery store charges for this same item. Not to mention the added convenience of having the heavy product delivered to my door at no extra charge! Less bulk to fight with in the supermarket parking lot!
2) I ruined a few pairs of pants over the years, when I accidentally sprayed them with detergent while trying to squirt it into the dishwasher...No such problem with these cubes! They are neat and tidy (just make sure NOT to touch them with wet hands, as they start to dissolve and make you sticky).
3) No more questioning: am I using too much, or too little? The amount is now ALWAYS right! ONE CUBE does it all! No more overfilling and wasting money!
4) The quality is as good as that of the liquid Cascade I have been using for ions, but without the need to add Jet! The product works just as discribed and leaves pots, china and glass equally shiny and clean, without any discernable odor. I use one cube in the main detergent compartment. The cube dissolves COMPLETELY and leaves no trace of its existance (there is no need to puncture it!).

Downside:
The product looses effectiveness once exposed to air for too long a time. Therefore, the pouch must be closed tightly in-between uses. I find all ziplock style bags to be a nightmare to use (my fridge is always sprinkled with shredded cheese bits). So, I devised a solution. I purchased a tall bottle-shaped plastic container with a screw-on top. The top has a small pop-off opening, just large enough for one cube to get thru. I placed the entire contents of the pouch in the bottle. The ease of use is now unbeatable!

Hope this has helped you make your decission! ;o)

5Great product - definitely no prewash necessaryJun 08, 2008
By Enigma
I am surprised there are only three reviews of this excellent product.

I noticed someone mention a plastic pouch needs to be removed after a cycle. For accuracy, there is no plastic pouch left behind. I have used this in 3 different dish washers, have recommended to others and just checked the package - there is never a plastic pouch left or reference to one being left behind. They dissolve in water (obviously).

We have been using these for over a year and have recommended to countless friends and family who have thanked us for turning them on to the product.

First, the biggest problem with dishwasher detergent is people add too much detergent. This is not only a waste, but is bad for the environment and etches everything you wash over time. Have you ever noticed your silverware, glasses and/or dishes develop small etching on them? Too much dishwasher detergent. These packets are pre-measured and regardless of full or partial load, they work great.

We no longer pre-rinse/wash. We just remove the large bits and throw in the washer. Sometimes the dishes will sit for a couple days. When the dishwasher is completely full, we throw in a pouch and run the load. I have never had anything come out dirty or not completely clean.

No etching: because of the proper measurement, which seems quite small from what we are used to, there is no etching.

Safe for septics and while it has phosphorus, it's very small amount by volume so you pretty much get an environmentally friendly product here w/the offset of the amount used and effectiveness.

These simply work great and add great convenience of premeasured, throw-in packs - you'll like this product.

I, of course, do subscribe and save to save the extra 15%. One package of 5 every six-months is too much for us so I just delay it, but that may vary for you.

5A little extra trouble to store, but soooo worth it!Nov 08, 2010
By A Research It Maven "Just the facts please"
The only complaint that I ever had regarding these EXCELLENT Cascade ActionPacs in a LARGE quantity is their extreme need to remain ABSOLUTELY DRY in storage. (Under the sink is humid.) I solved this problem for myself by using a large jar with a lid that screws on TIGHTLY to keep out humidity, and in the BOTTOM of the jar I put about 2 dozen SALTINE crackers, then pour the ActionPacs on top. Now they NEVER stick together or LEAK over time, so, even tho this bag is a LARGE quantity for me - NO PROBLEMS over the months of storage! (You can also put those little packages of drying agent that are found in electronic packages, etc, in the bottom of the container.) BTW, water that is not HOT ENOUGH, especially if your d/w does not HEAT its own water, causes ALL the "CONS" mentioned in these reviews! Recommended!

5Convenient and performs well!Oct 19, 2008
By Dipika Kapadia "foodie, nutrition nut and music lover"
I love this dishwasher action pacs for their sheer convenience:

1) No measuring out gels or powders (or having to deal with accidental spills)!
2) You know exactly how many loads you have left remaining, and when to buy more
3) I have noticed my glasses don't get the 'white powder' buildup they get with dishwasher powder
4) Pleasing citrus scent (not overpowering)

Quick note of caution - seal the pouch well or the action pacs tend to dry out. Also, as noted in other reviews, perhaps, you don't need to puncture the pacs. Simply place in the slot for dishwashing detergent. The outer covering dissolves away.

1Yay for quantity. Boo for quality.May 14, 2011
By E. Alderette
I purchased this pack because I did the math and realized it would be much cheaper per load to buy five 32-count packs than several larger packs. We already had a big plastic pail from our last order, so I figured I'd buy a bunch of little packs, open them up, and dump them in the big pail for storage.

When I got the order, I realized that these were not new items. They were, in fact, either salvage or very, very old.

Our last pail of Action Pacs took probably better than a couple years to go through. By the time we got to the bottom of the pail, the plastic coating on each of the Action Pacs was starting to break down and get sticky and the liquid inside was starting to dry up a bit. They were kinda gross, but after a few years, you have expect that ambient moisture would eventually degrade them. This took a couple years to happen. And when you used them in this state, the block of granular detergent inside the Action Pacs never seemed to dissolve properly in the dishwasher and left little detergent clumps on the dishes.

The moment I opened these bags, I realized that the degrading process has already begun, some to the point that they were stuck together. This means that these bags were stored either in a very, very damp place (as a comparison, I stored my tub in a relatively damp place under my sink, and it two a full two years for them to get to this state) or these packs were probably, I would guess, at least two to three years old.

After spending the money, we are using them, but I fully expect that better than half will never make it to wash day. They will eventually dissolve in the tub. And I've been dealing with an increasing amount of detergent clumps after each wash.

This was a horrible buy for me. In my effort to penny wise, I will end up being pound foolish. I should have just gone to the supermarket and know I'd get bags fresh from the manufacturer instead of what looks like was sent to a salvage store, bought at a flea-market, and then repackaged for sale online.

Save your money
