 Not very sweet and doesn't make me think gourmetFeb 18, 2010

I thought the price was very good for this product. However, it is advertised as "gourmet" and that did not come to mind when I first made these. I had to alter the batter to make it taste good enough for me to eat. It was originally fairly bitter and didn't have much of a chocolate taste--kind of ironic for chocolate pancake/waffle mix.

These pancakes don't have a lot of flavor alone. They are also a bit of a challenge to get cooked through without burning the outside because of the chocolate content. I end up cooking them on a medium-low burner setting for much longer than the package directions indicate to salvage them.
Serving them with the frozen, sweetened strawberries and either some whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, however....yummy!
