WOW!! Nice Printer!!Jul 25, 2011
By Elizabeth Clough I was relucent to purchase my Canon Color imageClass MF9170c from Amazon at first, but I am truly glad that I did! With my research, I knew this would be a great printer for the price and for my needs. I manage a small growing accounting office and this printer is just perfect for us! I payed extra to have it shipped in 2 days and it was well worth the $59! It come in by crate and nicely boxed up. Easy to open and set up with the exception of trying to understand all the cool functions of the printer (ie: Copying, faxing, network, and email function). With a little help from a friend who installs these for a living (and yes he recommended it too!)it's been such a GREAT printer! I love it when my staff comes to me and says "thanks" for the PDF scan or email! If you want a small, mid-size, reliable, networking printer, this is the one!
CANON MF9170c - VERY POOR CHOICEApr 30, 2012
By D. J. Smith We ordered this $2,900.00 unit to replace an aging unit in our office. The bottom line is that after we spent three days and hours on the phone with Canon attempting to have the machine function properly we finally had an unsolicited call from Shoplet, (vendor) that they were recalling the unit as they had many other of the same units that were having the same problem we were having. It took about three weeks to get the return completed, but it is now complete. The more disturbing issue is with Canon as all the time we discussed the matter with them they denied the fact that they had discontinued the model (MF9170c)due to the problems that we were having. There will be no more Canon machines in any of our offices.
Most strongly: DO NOT BUY THIS!Mar 03, 2012
By Wuodan This printer has been intentionally and maliciously crippled in several subtile ways that are not easily apparent. The most critical one is that, regardless of use, if any, ALL cartridges must be replaced at the same time at a cost in excess of US$600, each rime and every time. At this rate, even if the printer were free, no one but a fool would operate it due to the insanely expensive per page cost. Second, the printer cuts it's printing resolution by a factor of 4 when printing color versus the already low monochrome resolution of only 600x600. Third, the magnification/reduction range has been reduced also by a factor of 4 compared to all other printers of even 1/3 the reduced cost. This printer is a prime example of why one must be extremely cautious when buying anything when corporate greed out rules all else. There is an overwhelmingly valid reason why this originally expensive printer is now selling for less than 15% of it's original sales price. Regardless of price, even if paid to take it, this printer is an utter scam! Examine all of the tiniest details first before buying.
