Horrible. Just Horrible clam chowder.Dec 20, 2010

Campbells Chunky "Healthy request" Clam Chowder tastes horrible. It's that simple. I wouldn't eat it again if it was free, really, I wouldnt. Only thing that could save this chowder is if you added at least a Tsp or two. of salt. about a 1/4 c of heavy cream, at least 2 TBSP of butter and a 6 oz can of clams to the 18.8oz can, as this stuff is all but devoid of those three things. If you like watery, bland potato soup, this stuff is for you!
My suggestion: Just get the real stuff, but eat less of it and you get the same calories. At least you will enjoy each bite rather than cringe and after the 3rd bite throw it out. Maybe that is their plan. Make food so bad you just throw it out and lose weight from starvation. Way to go Campbells!

I purchased this at Kroger, not through Amazon. Smells horrible. The dog wouldn't even try it. I threw it out and washed all of the dishes, but the house still smells like I'm not sure what.

The regular version of this Chunky New England Clam Chowder has been a big favorite of mine for over 30 years. But now that I am on a low sodium diet, I have to look for substitutes.
When I tried the Healthy Request version of Chunky Chicken Noodle, it tasted identical to the regular version. So I assumed that this Healthy Request version of New Englan Clam Chowder would also be as good as its regular version, but it isn't. It tastes awful. It's so bad that I can't possibly eat it. So I wasted my money by ordering a case.
Now that I have learned my lesson, the hard way. Before I will order a case of any food product from Amazon. I first try it out by buying a single can from a local grocery store. If it isn't available to try locally. Then I simply won't order a case from Amazon.
