4Good flavor, not hot!Jan 11, 2011
By James H "James H"
I'm on a low budget, a lot of it consisting of canned foods like campbells chunky firehouse hot and spicy chili. Like the other reviews available mentioned, it is NOT spicy by any real standards. For anyone who's been to a curry house chain restaurant, and ordered "hot" and not extra/super hot, you'll realize the definition of hot is rapidly changing to fit the more moderate group of individuals. If I'm really trying to save money that week, I just have a can a day. Half a can with rice, for lunch, and half a can with rice for dinner. I prefer to have it with long grain rice since its generally a bit dryer and goes better with the liquidy nature of the chili. I eat it with cheetos flaming hot chips, not the healthiest diet by any means, but it is a VERY cheap meal, and tastes great with the combination of things. What I like most about the chili is its high fiber content, I'm not one for eating a lot of vegetables, so the fiber in this really helps.

3Not Hot At All!Jul 28, 2010
By Monopoly J
I read the other two reviews and was really looking forward to this chili. It is not remotely hot at all. It is good and has great flavor but should not have the name Firehouse on it. It is a good canned chili but I've had other can chili's that had a lot more heat.

I love hot and spicy stuff and my wife can tolerate some of it. We both ate this chili and found it to not be a "hot and spicy chili" in the slightest. I did enjoy

I would have given it 4-stars because it is a good product but it does not live up to it's name. If you're wanting something hot, look at another product.

4Not really hotFeb 28, 2011
By J. Smith
This is decent tasting for a canned chili. However, the people who say it's hot obviously don't eat a lot of spicy food. I'd put it in a low medium heat category for chili.

4A fair unbiased reviewApr 06, 2012

i like chili but i have not tasted too many great ones. this chili is great. it tastes like a spicy version of the chili that i eat from the restaurant "Chilis", but for a fraction of the price. If you're looking to burn the hell out of your mouth, this isn't the chili for you, i can see how some can be disapointed. this is a spicy chili but not a "too hot" spicy chili, just moderate. if you're looking for a great chili with some moderate kickback, this is a 4-5 star cheap go-to canned chili, the best ive tasted! if you're looking for a super spicy chili, that lives up to the name "firehouse", you will have to look elsewhere, this doesn't even make me want water, but at the same time, it leaves my mouth feeling nice and spicy fresh, i wont go back to "regular" now.

1Quality has severely droppedOct 31, 2011

This used to be one of my favorite canned foods, now the meat is rubbery. It was not like this before they reduced the can size to 15 oz. Barely edible.
