5Excellent, large, pure white, lint-free cleaning clothsMay 20, 2012

I learned about the environmental & economic benefits of using plain, white 100% cotton cloths from reading the book "Speed Cleaning" several years ago. Without having to buy paper towels all of the time, reduced paper waste for the same reason & being able to utilize more surface space w/ a cloth (as opposed to a much smaller paper towel), it is nothing but a win/win for me. I actually like these even better than The Clean Team's version- these seem more absorbent, possess even less lint (which would be none), and seem to wash up brighter.

Wash & dry these ALONE before you use them the first time (it removes any starch & dirt from the cloths), and continue to do so for the entire time that you own them. If you mix them with any other laundry, you will either get dye on them and/or pick up lint, hairs & more from the other laundry, and will therefore reduce your cleaning power. Keeping these as white as possible is important to simply be sure you're getting up as much dust, dirt, soot & grease as possible (a dark cloth won't show you this well). They can be washed in hot water & a little powdered detergent, and should be to remove dust mites as much as possible, though I like the delicate cycle for it's easier time on the hems of the cloths & material itself. The rinse water should, of course, be absolutely clear before they go into the dryer. They can be bleached w/ Clorox, but I prefer not to, as I use them w/ Windex & don't want any dangerous chemical interactions to even possibly occur. I dry them on the high dryer setting, washing & drying as many together as possible, as that reduces wrinkles. As they are all cotton, they do take a full dryer's time cycle to dry. I own seven cloths for each of my two bathrooms (since I do a wipe-down w/ one cloth & Antibacterial Windex daily in each one), three cloths kept in my desk for little spills that occur throughout the rest of the house, and seven additional cloths for daily kitchen cleaning. Therefore, once added up, I own four sets of these cloths- all were & are in great condition. When they are put away, don't just leave them smushed into little balls out of the dryer- take the time to fold them in half, and then in half again. I promise, you are saving yourself a headache later, and will be grateful. When you're cleaning & turning over the cloth, and they've been folded in this manner, you'll have eight cloth surfaces per cloth to clean with. The price point is excellent for the volume & quantity.

These are better than microfiber cloths that I've used, as well, and I've owned many brands of cleaning cloths over the years. They can be used in a pinch as dusting cloths, though I find them too thin to use with furniture polish. Also, I don't like to mix white cloths with polishing cloths in the washer, because chemicals from the white cloths & furniture polish on my polishing cloths shouldn't be mixed. Washing these cloths with anything containing furniture polish will almost assuredly ruin their streak-free properties, as well- so don't combine them if you are using these cloths on mirrors, picture glass & glassware.

I hope this helps!
