I am a big-time vanilla latte drinker. Every morning I make my espresso on my Rancilio Silvia and froth milk with some vanilla syrup. Up until now, I have been using Torani and Da Vinici syrups, both regular and sugar free (mostly the sugar free) and have been every happy with the outcome. However, my wife and I have been trying to switch over to a more "natural" diet, and therefore wanted something without artificial sweeteners. We could never convince ourselves that the calorie increase associated with refined sugar was worth it.
When we saw this product we thought we would give it a try. It using natural, unrefined sugars, and is organic to boot. Further, it is a free-trade product, which makes you feel a little better about the social costs of the drink. We weren't really hoping for any improvement in flavor, really just a healthy, more socially conscious alternative to our other vanilla syrups. However, when we tried it we were blown away!!! Simply spectacular...I would say it was a more mild vanilla flavor and sweetness than the other syrups, but the flavor it does have is more complex and satisfying. I think the Torani especially has a rather one-dimensional flavor to it, which is not bad, but I had no idea what i was missing.
In a nut shell, if you are already using other vanilla syrups, either sugar free or not, and are looking to switch to something with a more natural flavor and some added health benefits, this is well worth the cost. Again, I have used it mostly in my vanilla lattes, but as a daily drinker of them I think I have a pretty picky tongue.
I can't wait to try more CE Organic products...if this is indicative of what the others are like, I think we are in for a treat!!!!
