5OMG! Best ever, buy a pump for it!Sep 03, 2009
By K. Duvall
I got this yesterday, a day early per Amazon's email. That made me very happy.
I was nervous about buying glass bottles via Amazon. I order a lot from here. I have had some broken plastic bottles before. This was the best packaged delivery ever! Each bottle was nestled in it's own safe zone. Even UPS did not break it! I was very glad to see that.
Upon opening the bottle, a wonderful REAL chocolate smell wafted out. It tasted great off the knife handle. This syrup is thick, almost like a super creamy nut butter. You must have a pump for easy dispensing. I used the end of a knife this morning to get enough out for my home made latte. Amazing! Not overly sweet, good chocolate taste. Just perfect. I think I was able to get one serving, which is 15ml or 1 tbsp. That is only 45 calories. It blended right into the coffee with no problem. I just washed my travel mug and there was no residue on the bottom.
I think I am hooked! I even called the manufacturer before buying, they are super nice! A real person answered the phone and she turned around to speak with the production manager to get my answer! They are a peanut free facility, so peanut allergy sufferers rejoice!
I love the natural and organic syrup. I also bought the Agave carmel flavor as well. Once I try that I can report on that one. I am guessing it will be good too.

Update: November 19, 2009
I bought the pump Grocery Outlet. It is a pump designed for 750ml bottles. But...the real trick is to trash the pump idea and heat it up. The pump worked for about 2-3 weeks, then stopped since the product is so thick. I called CE Organic and she said to heat it and pour into another container. That is why it is offered in a large capacity wide mouth container now. These 750ml ones were their last run of this bottle type! Go figure. I simmer it in warm water till liquid and pour it into a wide mouth glass container I have, storing it in the fridge. A little work, but I have not missed any product. Hope that helps.

3Can't get past the bottleNov 14, 2009
By Professional Mom "typical consumer"
I know I know - everyone hates when a product is reviewed on something other than its own merit; believe me that's why I gave it 3 stars! I would have given it a zero but am trying to adhere to that philosophy. But here's the thing - if you can't eat a product because you can't get it out of its container, how can it be good? I did read the first reviewer's comments about buying a pump so I figured that if I had the same experience, there must be a pump I could buy somewhere - NOT. From the bottom of this bottle to the bottom of the neck is 8" tall!!! A standard soap pump is only between 4 and 5 inches tall - wouldn't even fit past the neck! You'need at least a 12" pump dispenser. Anyone know where I can get one of those? Please leave a comment!

However, despite the "pump" comment, I decided to try the product because some consumers have actual physical reasons why they cannot open jars or manipulate things the same way as others do, so I figured maybe I'd have a better shot. All I can say is, it's a good thing I have a 14" long, 1/2" diameter pampered chef tool or I would still be trying to get this goop out of the glass container. What were they thinking?!? A thick goopy substance packaged in, not just a long-necked bottle, but a bottle with a 4" long neck, the same length as a standard dinner knife so that the knife only gets into the neck part and never into the actual body of the bottle? And it's GLASS so you can't whack the bottle against the counter to try to shake the goop out, or even CUT it open with a saw! If I could cut the darn bottle in half, I would gladly do that and pour the stuff into another jar. Taking it a little further, if it was in a bottle of the same (stupid) shape but in plastic, at least you could throw it outside to your kids and watch them behave like monkeys putting a stick into an anthill trying to get a tasty treat! I think it would be hysterical to watch ANYONE try to get the product out of the bottle, but kids, that would be fantasticly funny until a tongue was caught in the 4" neck. At least that would take up some time and be entertaining.

Obviously I'm irritated that I can't get enough of the product out at one time to actually use it, but I have licked my fingers and all the utensils I use trying to get TO the product and I would say that it is good, but if you are looking to replace that "common" chocolate-sauce taste, this won't do it. It is really GOOD chocolate, and most people, and especially kids, just want the common stuff. It does mix into milk, but not really that easily. Hot chocolate - probably a good idea; chocolate martini - probably NOT a good idea. Chocolate milk - you can let the kids stir for hours so that could work. If you are a chocolate connoisseur this would be great stuff.

Finally, lest you are the competitive type and think "I'll bet I could get that stuff out of the bottle!" just remember this - there are THREE bottles, so if you fail, you've got lots of years of frustration on your hands. Beware...
