BENNE WAFERS FROM BYRD COOKIE COMPANYJul 20, 2010
By Maureen Kearney We were vacationing in SC and wanted to get something for our friends and family that represented the South. We did not see anything from SC as we travelled around the State. My sister recommended the Benne wafers. We ordered nine boxes. The wafers are wonderful. They were enjoyed by everyone.

Found these during a trip to Savannah. The Gullah culture considers sesame a good luck food. They are absolutely wonderful.

This is my first time to try this Benne Wafer and it is so delicious. It has a unique taste......with just a hint of sweetness. The sesame taste is awesome!

Great cookie--old Southern RecipeNov 13, 2009
By J. Payne My mother has given me these cookies for Christmas/New Years for decades. They are crisp and delicious and I have never met anyone who hasn't liked them.
NOT Benne wafersMar 02, 2012
By jsxiantn They were good for what they were - sesame sugar cookies. They, however, were NOT even close to being Benne Wafers. They are made in Savannah and sold in a Charleston themed box. They would do well to drive to Charleston and see a real Benne Wafer. Again, they were good for what they were, but bad for what they were trying to be.
