Best Med-size Laser Printer out there as of 3/20/07Mar 14, 2007

This is the best Med-size Laser printer in the market. I was a big Hp fan. I own a small business and had the opportunity to try almost all med-size laser printers out there. This is by far the best printer ever. The quality o the product is amazing and the built is wonderful. I set it up in less than 10 minutes and was connected to the network in less than 15 min. The toner life is amazing and the speed is ipressive. This is by far the best med-size laser printer I've seen. Do not buy HP anymore. They lost their edge with bad quality printers released lately.

Excellent printerMay 21, 2007

I love this printer. It's fast, toner life is amazingly long and the toner price is a lot lower than other competitors. Overall this network printer is the best value for your money. HP, Sharp are overpriced and worse in performance compared to comparable brother like this one.
I had both in the past. Both disappointed me badly.

This was my second oneAug 18, 2009

I bought this Brother printer as a replacement for the same model which I had used for years and finally wore it out. This printer has proven itself to be fast, easy to use and very efficient. I sampled a few other printers when replacing my old one but this model had all the others beat when it came to quality, speed, toner and drum use, price and ease of operation. What more can I say? Brother has a loyal customer in me!

Over 6 years of daily use and still running like new.Feb 19, 2011

I have been using the HL-6050DN for over 6 years now in an office setting and it still runs like it is new. Toner cartridges last longer than any of the HP's in my office and it never jams when printing and rarely jams on duplexing. I have the accessory accessory paper tray that holds 500 sheets of paper which also works well. Memory expansion uses up to a 1 GB Compact Flash Card or up to a 128 MB 100 pin and 32 bit output DIM. How simply brilliant.
I have not tried the "PostScript 3 Font Upgrade Package", or the "Bar Code Font Upgrade Package"
If you are looking for a workhorse printer that requires no maintenance, this a one to take seriously.

Great, except it cannot print 07 PowerPoints accuratelyAug 22, 2011

"I do lots of research"
I ordered this product on Amazon to replace our HP network printer. I based my decision to buy this on the reviews of this and other similar Brother machines. At first it was very nice as the other reviewers had mentioned. But trouble quickly arose when we noticed that our powerpoint files (Office 07) were printing out without most of the graphics. Although some tweaks caused some the graphics to show (changing the DPI to 1200 for instance), still not all the graphics showed. I called up Brother for assistance, but after spending 40 minutes with the tech on the phone, going through all the steps to make sure everything was working and that we had the latest drivers, he came to the conclusion that it must be powerpoint that is causing this issue. I relayed to him that other printers were printing these powerpoint files just fine, and so he recommended that I take the printer to Brother service center for them to inspect the machine, and that if they found nothing wrong with it they would charge us, but I thought this nonsense as everything else printed out just fine.
At this point, I am going to upgrade the print server to Windows 7 to see if this will fix the issue, otherwise (since we print out so many powerpoint files) I will be returning it.
