While comprising just 8% of total weight, Rice Bran (which includes the germ) accounts for 60% of the nutrients found in each rice kernel. Ordinarily, the oil in rice bran quickly spoils, but ours has undergone an all-natural but effective stabilization process to ensure its freshness. Bob's Red Mill Rice Bran is low in fat and calories and a good source of dietary fiber, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus. It can be easily added to fruit smoothies, cereals, and baked goods. | | | Features: | |

Excellent taste, fresh, no need of cooking. Company has said it has no Arsenic.Jun 26, 2010
By G0NZ0 I was worried about Arsenic, which quite often pollutes Rice Bran, especially for brans coming from China. So I called Bobs Red Mill customer service to ask if there was any control on the level of Arsenic in the bran. They told me it comes from California and there is no risk of it being contaminated with Arsenic. I hope thats the truth... Its too bad that they dont offer an organic one. I searched everywhere and it seems an organic rice bran is nowhere to be found. Anyway this is really fresh, tastes fantastic, great smooth texture, you can use it in sooo many ways, and it's ready to eat, no need of cooking it.

great for diabeticsJun 08, 2009
By low carb cook I use rice bran in place of flour--has the texture of flour, very high in fiber, no gluten, and great taste--

Fine and even textureNov 11, 2010
By Jenny :) Ah, so many great uses for this great product. The texture and fine and smooth, very even, just like flour, but also very dry because the oil has been removed. If you want rice bran without the oil removed, don't buy packages labeled "stabilized."
First of all, I use this to make an exfoliating face mask/scrub by making a paste using this mixed with a little bit of green tea, olive oil (or whatever carrier oil you like), and milk. I smooth a layer over my face, wait for it to dry, then jump in the shower, dampen it, and rub for about a minute before rinsing it off. The tiny grains exfoliate without being rough on the skin and it smells sooo good! (like rice :) My skin is much tighter and brighter afterwards and I put the leftovers in the fridge for another day. Plus, this is way cheaper than buying those rice bran face masks from Japan.
I also use this as a partial substitute for flour in baking. It's very nutritious and causes my cookies to spread out a little flatter (maybe because it reacts differently to the baking soda?), but the taste of the cookies is not affected and I like crispy edged cookies.
I also sprinkle this on white rice since this is the vitamin-packed part of the rice before the rice is processed. I sprinkle it in other dishes too, especially ones that require a little thickening. Overall this is a great product and I'd buy it again!

Bowel Mover BranFeb 19, 2011
By Steven Deng Anyways, I use this in raw porridge recipe, it is very nutritious and moves your bowels too (excuse me). It has vitamins, and lots of fiber to control the blood sugar concurring with the other reviews.
It best eaten raw, so all the nutrients are intact. I recommended with other raw seeds, and wheat bran, raisins, and milk.
