It's okay but too sweet and a little gelatinousFeb 22, 2007

I have been able to find a few uses for this product, mostly to make a very sweet cup of hot cocoa but as much as I love sweets even I can only drink one mug. Also, there is something in the powder that renders the resulting liquid sort of thick, more like gelatinous. I will use it up because it isn't all that bad but it's far from what I hoped for - something to make the kind of rice milk you can buy in a square carton (Rice Dreams). Now that stuff is outrageously good but for shipping purposes I wanted to try a powder.

Good tasting rice milkNov 30, 2007
By Skywalker Payne If you use enough powder, about 1/2 more than suggested you create a nice creamy, good tasting rice milk. Good for cereal, smoothies, and cooking. And you get a lot of milk from one can.

Rice Milk Powder Great for travelAug 10, 2007

We love this product since we are vegans and don't drink cow's milk and we don't have many recipes that call for milk. When we do need it for things like in cereal or non dairy fresh fruit desserts this product comes in handy because it is always on our shelf and we don't have to worry about it going bad. We also do a lot of traveling and camping so it keeps in the camper and we are never without it. Not to mention the taste is GREAT!

DO NOT BUY THIS FOR SOY ALLERGIES!Sep 07, 2008

It's great stuff, taste-wise, but after I purchased this product I found out the Vitamin E in it is derived from soy, so my soy-allergic niece could not use it. I contacted the company, and they informed me that they had just purchased the product line and were supposedly taking steps to remove any soy-free claims on the label.

Dairy-free convenienceFeb 21, 2009
By M. V. Bowman Having dairy-free beverages available when I travel has been a huge problem, until Better Than Milk-Vanilla rice powder. I keep a baggie with 4-6 Tbsp of powder; a spoon; and a wide-mouth 8-oz plastic bottle (REI) in a 1-quart baggie. With the tight lid on the bottle, I can add water to the powder and shake vigorously to mix fully. No spills. It's great on cereal & in coffee; doesn't dissolve quite well enough to drink separately.
Another discovery: mix it at double-strength to create a delicious foamy addition to a cup of coffee. Poor person's latte. Foams even better if you microwave your water and double-strength rice milk, then add instant coffee and/or instant chai.
