 Delicious, moist Italian Panettone in beautiful package!Nov 05, 2010

I ordered this product on pre-sale a couple weeks ago and it arrived yesterday (10 days earlier than I expected!). It arrived as two Panettone boxes shrink wrapped together. The Panettone boxes themselves were in perfect condition.
The actual box is way nicer than I expected. It's glossy, stiff card stock on the outside with a pretty gold ribbon on top for the handle. It looks just like the one in the photo, but the box is more dark pink than red. It does not look or feel cheap at all. I ordered this so I could take it to holiday parties as a hostess gift and I'm pleasantly surprised that it's perfect for a great price.
Measured at the bottom of the box, each Panettone box is 7 inches wide and 7 inches tall.
Inside the box - the Panettone comes inside a plastic bag, tied with a twisty, and is baked in a cup-cake-like paper.
The taste (I had to try one of them) - very fresh. It was soft, moist and flavorful. The bread is sweet (similar to a Challah) with a touch of orange flavor from the peel. The raisin pieces (both dark and light) were moist, not dried out or hard.
The only bad thing about it, in my opinion, is that one slice has 180 calories and 7g of fat. But hey, it's the holidays!
Overall, I'm super happy with my purchase. I was not expecting the Panettone to be so large which is even better value for my money than I thought when I bought it. It tastes great, and is fun for the holidays because it's different than what everyone else brings as a gift. I highly recommend it and will buy at least one more 2pack for gifts.

I, too, ordered these panettone on pre-order. They arrived in perfect condition, well wrapped, moist and flavorful. This is a wonderful gift to bring to the host/hostess of a dinner party. Anyone would appreciate this wonderful Italian dessert. I've been known to enjoy a slice in the morning as well. They have a very long shelf life, so you can enjoy them weeks after the holidays have passed!

growing up in south brooklyn imported panettone was a holiday staple and was availible in almost every store,so its safe to say i've had a few in my day.
i bought this when it was a super sale on amazon and had to try it, it is very very good! and extreamly fresh and the price is so fair, in the NY city area the normal price is about $18 each, so 15 for 2 is like a buy one get one free!
i've 3 more sets since and will give it with pride to my older italian family!

Usually these breads come burned on the bottom and very, very dark all over. These breads were perfect. They were a lovely golden brown and NOT for the first time, burned on the bottom. I felt they made them this way, as for years that is how I found them to be. However,they were not packaged propery and destroyed in the shipping. The entire corner of the outside carton was ripped wide open and had to be taped and the breads were squashed to half their size and the boxes they were in, actually torn. First bad shipment I have ever received from Amazon. Cecilia Almeida

I'm not a big panettone lover. My mom used to buy this huge one in a tin. It always got stale and she'd turn it into bread pudding. If she had been buying this one, I would have eaten it. It's delicious. It has more fruit than any panettone I've had before. Some might consider it a bit bitter because of the orange peel, but I actually liked that. I never knew it was supposed to be cake. To me it's a sweet fruit bread. It was very fresh and moist, which made it a little difficult to cut, but I'm fine with that. It's great toasted (with or without butter) with tea or hot chocolate. I had planned on making french toast a la Giada de Laurentis, but we ate it all and I gave the 2nd to my sister. Next time.
