Great Homemade tasting cakeJul 16, 2011
By Shoekitty This cake was easy, and fairly quick. Besides the mix, you will need 2 teas, of lemon zest, and 2 T juice of lemon. It does take at least 6 mins total beating with a mixer, but the texture is worth it. We love angel food but the bakery cakes, and even the Betty Crocker Angel cakes have such an awful after taste to them. I also miss the texture of a an old fashioned Angel Cake, that the grocery store cakes and mixes do not have. The flavor of this cake is very mild, almost regular tasting, not strong lemon. The lemon glaze that comes with this cake mix I do not like. I made it once and it was too strong lemon for me. There is actually a flavor I cannot pin point she added to glaze that makes it tastes odd to me. The next time I made the cake, I took the glaze added 1.5 T milk and 1 teas vanilla in place of the suggested 2T lemon juice. Perfect. We actually like it without the glaze, and serve plain or with ice cream and berries. I think this mix is worth the money, and tastes natural and homemade.
