My 12 yr old daughter loves to write and draw and will only use a gel pen so we finally decided to get refills and they work great. She changes them herself when needed.

You would think that refills would be cheaper than buying all new pens, but in fact they are not. A package of 24 new velocity gel pens is $20.99 compared to $22.18. And if you want to get even cheaper, a pack of 15 pens is $11.99 (which would make 30 pens $23.98). Go figure.

It is rare to find a ballpoint or gel pen which is refillable. Since the Velocity Gel is my favorite disposable gel pen, I was delighted to see that Amazon sells the refills for it. Using refills rather than replacing the whole pen every time it runs out of ink is environmentally correct, cheaper (especially with Subscribe and Save), and makes it easier to have a "spare" with you at all times, because the packet of two refills is more compact than even one pen.

We really like these gel pens or else we would never have ordered the refills. It is going to take a while to get through all the refills. However the tips have a very small protective cover that needs to be easily removed prior to use. This seems to keep the ink from drying out till the refill is used. No problems with these refills.
