Great Potential but Big DisappointmentAug 01, 2010
By Jason Stanley

Initially it looked like this would be a great product for our pool. It hooks up easily and feels like it is designed to properly handle use in the pool. The first issue I had was that the volume was very low for an outdoor device. We have a waterfall in the pool as well, so we could barely hear the speaker. After trying it out three times it now won't even play music consistently - the music cuts in and out - particularly if the volume is turned up. It offers three channels to connect the speaker and transmitter, but none of them make any difference.
I struggled giving the device two stars as it is basically useless to me at the moment. The fact that it is mechanically a nice setup and that I am still waiting for a response from customer service (manufacturer) pushed me to add the second star. Bottom line is that I would not recommend this product unless they sort out this transmission problem. Even then the volume issue really makes it fall short of the mark for an outside device.

Poor construction quality and soundFeb 08, 2011

I bought 4 of these in the summer of 2010. Of the four, 3 have severe leaks and the fourth has quit alogether....while the design is nice, the quality is sub-par. I do not recommend.

PoolPODJun 12, 2010
By Kim The sound quality is not that good unless the POD is VERY close to the transmitter. Sound is scratchy.

Great In Hot Tub!Sep 28, 2010

I purchased this for use in my outdoor hot tub. I got tired of dragging my speakers connected to long speaker wire out the back door everytime we used the hot tub. I didn't want the hassle of hard wiring outdoor speakers so I thought I would give the PoolPod a try first. I have to admit that I was extremely worried about the volume being loud enough. I actually have been looking at this system on and off for 6 months now. I really thought it wasn't going to work, but I finally decided to just give it a try. The first time I used it I was pleasantly surprised. My transmitter is about 25 feet from the hot tub. I have my MP3 player plugged into it and it's volume up to about 80%. The PoolPod volume is two clicks away from max and I have no problem clearly hearing my music over the hot tub jets. This is no Bose system but the sound quality is better than what I expected. I have used it 3 nights in a row now and have completely enjoyed it. I put my mp3 player on shuffle, throw the PoolPod in the hot tub, grab a frosty beverage and enjoy the evening. The only thing I'm not sure of is how fast it eats batteries. I may find it worthwhile to invest in some rechargeable batteries in the future. Unless you are obessed with your sound quality this is an ideal setup for a hot tub and well worth the money.

Great toy. low volume for outdoors, but still one of the best options to listen your music on the pool.
