Description:

Basmati means "Queen of Fragrance" - Characterized by superfine kernels, exquisite aroma, great taste, silky texture, delicate curvature and linear kernel elongation, BASMATI is considered to be the rice of the connoisseurs. Aroma of BASMATI imparts its novel characteristics that is unmatched by any other grain elsewhere in the world. BASMATI rice has inherent but subtle nuttiness that really tastes good. It is delicious by itself !! As BASMATI tastes so delicious all by itself, no additional butter is necessary, allowing you to savor wonderful dishes and save fat calories at the same time. The grain has been cultivated at the base of Himalayan range in India and Pakistan for thousands of years, in the areas where the Yamuna and Sutluj rivers flow. Basmati originated in Punjab region of undivided India which now spans areas of both India and Pakistan. This explains why it’s only grown in these two countries and viewed as their cultural heritage. Top quality basmati is primarily grown in the Karnal (known as the "rice bowl of India"), Kurukshetra, Panipat and Ambala regions of Haryana in India and Kalar district in Pakistan. Basmati also has some spiritual or physical aspects, according to the ancient practice of "Ayurveda." Ayurveda is a method of healthy living which includes concepts of mental, physical, social and spiritual harmony. According to ayurveda, basmati is saatvic or pure and therefore, beneficial for the body and easy to digest. It is considered an excellent remedy for balancing your vata (metabolism) and pitta (energy production). By the way, ayurveda practice means avoiding instant or pre-cooked rice because it has less prana (life force) in it. Our Rice Plant is completely audited and Approved by “CSCC” a global provider of socially responsible supply chain consulting services. 5My family loves this rice!Oct 30, 2009
By Amy Denstedt "Backwoods Chef"
My family and I live in a very rural area of Northeastern Michigan, and could not find this rice in any store in the vacinity. Luckily though, Amazon.com had it at a very reasonable price and it was shipped right to my door! Its quality is great, and the taste is unlike any other rice.

5Best Basmati Rice in the MarketMay 01, 2009
By Tea Lover Mommy
We have been eating this rice for past 8 years and the rice has absolute consistent quality and texure every time we make it. We have been buying this from an ethnic store but now Amazon has the rice at even a better price. Amazon also carries the larger pack of 10 lb for everyday user.
Arya Supreme Quality Basmati Rice, 10-lbs Bag

This rice is grown in the foothills of Himalayas (Mt Everest)and is enriched with minerals and natural Aroma. We have cooked many dishes including some Tea Rice and they are to die for. We would highly recommend this brand of Rice for your entire family.

4Very good "every day" rice.Jun 06, 2011
By A. Shropshire
I eat rice almost every day. On Sunday, I make a huge pot of curry and throw a batch of rice into the rice cooker and I'm set for meals for the rest of the week. Because of this, I go through a TON of rice. Since the rice at my local grocery store was a bit on the expensive side, I decided to get this.

I consider this an "every day" rice. I prefer Basmati for my every day rices because it has a nice flavor that goes well with lots of dishes (as this does). I've had more flavorful Basmati rices but they were, of course, more expensive. Not something that I want to spend everyday for just a simple dinner. Another thing I like is that they are in 2 pound bags which fits well into my rice canister on the counter making it easy for me to access without a huge, open bag cluttering up the kitchen and threatening to spill all over my floor.

All in all, a quality product that I would recommend to people who eat a lot of rice and need something that is tasty and convenient for every day use.

5Best Rice Ever!Apr 03, 2011
By HappyMom
This is the best rice I have ever had, and my family can't stop talking about it. We will never use anything else, and I highly recommend this rice to anyone looking for better flavor in this pantry staple. We use a ziplock bag after opening, but I actually like the original packaging.

4Basmati RiceDec 08, 2010

The rice is wonderful, the only negative about the rice is the smell from the sack, wish it could be packed in a none odor container...................otherwise, the rice is beautiful!
