Smoky flavor ruins itMar 16, 2010
By A. Richardson I have been spending bajillions of dollars ordering in Ikura/Salmon Roe sushi because I crave it all the time! I thought this was a brilliant plan to save a little money, and to cut out the wasted rice.
No. This is no substitute. For starters, jarred caviar is reeeeally salty and preservative-y tasting. Which I maybe could have dealt with for the price difference, except that whatever the "Smokehouse" flavor is is GROSS. I even like a smoky beer a local brewery makes, but this was not for me.
I will not be buying again.

Arrived unedibleFeb 18, 2011
By D. Le This item arrived fairly quickly but was unedible. I can't help but wonder if it spoiled in transit or was it spoiled at the warehouse. For starters, the color wasn't anything like the picture. It wasn't bright orange. It was more brown in color. It was only half full and it definitely wasn't "fluffy" looking. Against my better judgement, I spooned more than a few into my mouth only to discover that it had a horrible bitter taste to it. Because it is a grocery item, Amazon's policies prohibit its return (for safety reasons). However, Amazon did continue to earn my business by quickly refunding the $20 I paid for it. The refund processed within a day. I won't ever buy this product again.

Horrifically bitter.Jan 11, 2012

Bitter, bitter, and far too strong. I've had Salmon Roe before, and I love it but this made me feel as if I would vomit after each bite. I thought possibly it was just how I was eating it so I tried it with rice. Just made the rice taste horrid. Don't waste your money or spend a little extra for something better.
A good choiceDec 20, 2011
By Christopher This is a good choice for anyone who likes salmon, even if they have never made the leap to salmon roe. It lacks subtlety; it is a bit on the salty side, and the smokiness is a bit strong, but that can help to ease the impact of these little salmon-bombs for one who is new to the experience.
